MBN Sellers' Policy

Welcome to the MBN Seller Policy! Here, we outline the expectations and responsibilities of sellers on the MBN platform. By creating a shop on MBN, you agree to these terms and conditions.

At MBN, we strive to create a trusted marketplace for buyers and sellers of "Made-By-Nigerians" products.

This Policy constitutes the expression of all the terms of this agreement and a complete and exclusive statement of the agreement between buyer and seller. All representations, promises, warranties or statements by any agent or employee of seller that differ in any way from the terms and conditions hereof shall be given no effect or force.

1. Seller's Responsibilities

Accurate and High-Quality Listings
  • Provide honest, detailed descriptions with clear, high-resolution images.
  • Set fair and transparent pricing that includes all relevant costs.
Inventory Accuracy
  • Only list items that are in stock and ready to ship.
  • Update listings promptly when stock levels change.
  • Provide accurate information to MBN and our customers at all times.
  • Act fairly and not misuse any features or services on MBN's platform.
  • Not attempt to damage or abuse another seller, their listings or ratings.
  • Not send unsolicited or inappropriate communications to customers. Seller may only contact customers through Buyer-Seller Messaging channels approved by MBN
  • Not operate more than one selling account on MBN without notifying the MBN.

2. Prohibited Activities

The following are strictly prohibited on the MBN platform:

  • Listing counterfeit, illegal, stolen, or unsafe items
  • Misrepresenting products through false descriptions, edited photos, or deceptive claims
  • Infringing on trademarks, copyrights, or other intellectual property
  • Spamming or harassing buyers or MBN staff
  • Promoting hate speech, offensive content, or discriminatory views
  • Using MBN to sell items not made or designed in Nigeria
  • Selling restricted or prohibited items as defined by MBN or local authorities
  • Offer incentives (discounts, cash rewards, waived fees) in exchange for positive reviews or removing negative feedback.
  • Pressure customers to modify or delete a review, regardless of its tone.
  • Selectively solicit feedback only from customers who had a positive experience.
  • Write or commission fake reviews—either for your own services or a competitor's.

3. Requirement of Accuracy

You must provide accurate, up-to-date information to MBN and our clients, ensuring all data reflects true and verifiable details. If any information changes, you are responsible for promptly updating it. You are to use a registered business name that legally and accurately represents your entity.

You must ensure all licenses, registrations, and tax details are current and correctly displayed. All Disclose all terms, fees, and conditions transparently. Your service locations (branches, digital service coverage) match your actual place(s) of operations.

4. MBN Customer Feedback & Review Policy

At MBN, we value honest and unbiased customer feedback to maintain trust and transparency. You must not attempt to manipulate, inflate, or influence customer ratings, reviews, or testimonials in any way.

  • You may neutrally request feedback from your customers
  • You may encourage customers to share their genuine experiences with MBN services

5. Refund & Return Policy

MBN enforces a 7-day refund window from the date of delivery. Buyers may initiate a return or refund within this period based on the following conditions:

6. Eligible for Refund
  • Item is received damaged or defective upon delivery
  • Item does not match the description or photos in the listing
  • Item is returned unused, intact, and in original resalable condition with original packaging and tags
  • Wrong item or incorrect variation (e.g. wrong color, size, or product sent)

7. Permitted Use of Customer Information

When you receive customer data (e.g., names, account details, contact information) to process transactions or provide services through MBN, you may only use it for:

  • Order fulfillment (for example, processing payments, delivering services).
  • Mandatory compliance (e.g., fraud checks, regulatory reporting).

You must securely delete customer information after completing the transaction, unless retention is required by law.

8. MBN Transaction Integrity Policy

You may not attempt to circumvent MBN's authorized transaction processes or divert MBN customers to alternative financial platforms or channels. This prohibition includes, but is not limited to:

Directing customers to complete transactions through:
  • External payment links or QR codes
  • Third-party banking applications
  • Alternative remittance platforms
  • Peer-to-peer payment systems
Prohibited communication practices:
  • Including off-platform payment instructions in transaction confirmations
  • Soliciting customers to use non-MBN channels for future transactions
  • Offering preferential terms for transactions completed outside MBN

8. Not Eligible for Refund

  • Product is returned after the 7-day window from delivery
  • Original packaging is damaged or tampered with by the customer
  • Item has been used, worn, or altered after delivery
  • Items clearly marked as non-refundable at point of purchase (e.g. final clearance sales)
  • Buyer changes mind without valid reason after item has been shipped and delivered in perfect condition
  • Refunds will be processed only after the returned item is inspected and approved by the seller or MBN team.

9. Reselling Returned Items

Sellers may relist and resell returned items only if:

  • The item is still in excellent condition, with no signs of use or damage
  • All original packaging and tags are intact
  • The item passes quality inspection by MBN team

Excessive returns for the same item may trigger a listing review or seller account suspension.

10. Revenue & Commission Framework

MBN operates a commission-based revenue model.

A 15% commission is charged on the total value of each item sold through the MBN platform.

This commission is automatically deducted from the seller's payout after a successful transaction.

The commission covers platform maintenance, marketing, customer service, payment processing, and buyer protection.

Sellers are encouraged to factor the 15% commission into their pricing to ensure profitability.

11. Policy Violations & Consequences

Violations of MBN's Seller Policy may result in one or more of the following actions:

  • Removal of product listings
  • Temporary or permanent suspension of your store, depending on the severity and frequency of the violation
  • Withholding of earnings in cases involving unresolved refund claims
  • Permanent account termination in cases of fraud or repeated policy breaches
  • Delisting of products that infringe on intellectual property rights or imitate copyrighted content
  • Order limitations imposed on stores that fail to make products available for pickup within 48 hours
  • A penalty fee of ₦50,000 for items that fail Quality Control (QC) checks

12. Additional Guidelines & Best Practices

  • Monitor product performance (order fulfillment, return rate, buyer reviews)
  • Participate in seller workshops and platform updates
  • Strive to offer quality products and consistent service

13. MBN Intellectual Property Protection Policy

MBN recognizes that brands and financial service providers may engage third-party brand protection agencies or legal representatives to submit intellectual property (IP) infringement claims on their behalf. MBN accepts and reviews such submissions when the agent is formally authorized by the rights holder.

To prevent conflicts of interest and abuse of the IP reporting system, sellers, financial service providers, or other MBN account holders may not file infringement notices as an agent of a brand if doing so could directly or indirectly benefit their own MBN account.

13. Policy Updates

MBN reserves the right to review and update this Seller Policy periodically. Sellers are required to review the policy regularly to stay informed of any changes. Continued use of the platform constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
